Job Overview:
Global Strategies, a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in California, empowers
communities in the most neglected areas of the world to improve the lives of women and
children through healthcare. Our primary goal is to create lasting change through
scalable and innovative programs developed in partnership with local leaders. One of
Global Strategies’ core initiatives is NoviGuide, a clinical decision support platform the
organization uses to create high-impact mobile and web-based applications for frontline
healthcare workers. The software, originally designed as an internal solution to problems
encountered in our own field work, has attracted interest well beyond our project sites.
Global Strategies is now working with leading healthcare institutions in both Africa and
the United States to design and deliver innovative clinical decision support software.
Global Strategies is at a critical juncture. We are a well-regarded non-profit organization
with a proud 20-year history and we are a non-profit organization with a new digital
product that is helping us fulfill our mission and creating an alternative revenue stream.
We are seeking a Chief Development Officer to join our senior leadership team.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a critical role in advancing the organization's
mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
As Chief Development Officer you will have two key roles:
- You will be responsible for leading the organization’s traditional philanthropic
fundraising. In this role, you will identify and cultivate philanthropic donors whose
giving resonates with our digital health programs.
- Your second role will be marketing/sales of our software products. In this role, you
will develop, cultivate and steward new customer relationships for the NoviGuide
software.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a business development plan for the NoviGuide software
- Develop, cultivate and steward new customer relationships for completed
NoviGuide clinical pathways. These pathways include NoviGuide Newborn
Essentials, Acute Perinatal Event, Preeclampsia Aspirin Educator, and Glucose.
These software applications are largely in the areas of maternal-child health and
are in use today. Customers for these completed pathways will include healthcare
organizations in both high-resource and low-resource settings.
- Develop, cultivate and steward new customer relationships for the NoviGuide
platform. The NoviGuide platform can be used to convert any clinical guideline
into an interactive clinical pathway. Customers for the NoviGuide platform are
healthcare organizations, disease advocacy groups and medical guideline bodies
who have clinical pathway content they would like to see digitized.
- Work with our marketing and IT teams to develop and update NoviGuide
marketing material.
- Present and represent the software product at conferences and meetings and
with key stakeholder groups.
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the nonprofit’s
health work in low-resource settings
- Lead and manage all aspects of fundraising efforts, including lead generation,
major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation grants and
planned giving.
- Identify new and innovative fundraising opportunities to diversify the
organization’s funding sources.
- Conduct personal and virtual meetings with current and prospective donors.
- Organize and attend small events and dinners.
Compliance and Ethics
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards
governing fundraising practices and donor relations.
- Maintain the highest level of integrity, transparency, and accountability in all
fundraising activities and interactions with donors and partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree/certificate in a relevant field
preferred (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration)
- Minimum 5 years experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or related
roles, with a proven track record of success in securing major gifts, grants, and
other sources of funding
- Experience in digital health/software products
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including the ability
to build, motivate, and empower high-performing teams
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and steward
relationships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, board members,
volunteers, and staff
- Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and implement innovative
fundraising strategies and initiatives
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, both written
and oral
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices, trends, and emerging technologies
