Position Summary:
As a Volunteer CIU Investigator, you will play a crucial role in identifying, investigating, and supporting the prosecution of human trafficking cases. We are looking for a passionate and skilled volunteer to join our team, helping to advance our mission to eradicate human trafficking. This role involves working closely with law enforcement, legal professionals, social services, and community organizations to ensure a coordinated and effective response to trafficking incidents. The ideal candidate will possess strong investigative skills, a deep understanding of human trafficking dynamics, and a commitment to victim-centered approaches.
Position Overview: The CIU Investigator will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and supporting the prosecution of human trafficking cases. This role involves working closely with law enforcement, legal professionals, social services, and community organizations to ensure a coordinated and effective response to trafficking incidents. The ideal candidate will have strong investigative skills, a deep understanding of human trafficking dynamics, and a commitment to victim-centered approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Investigations: Identify and investigate potential human trafficking cases, gathering evidence and documenting findings in a thorough and systematic manner.
- Collaborate with Law Enforcement: Work closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to support investigations and prosecutions.
- Victim Support: Provide direct support and assistance to trafficking victims, ensuring their safety, security, and access to necessary services.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to trafficking patterns, victim demographics, and trafficker methodologies to inform investigative strategies.
- Community Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, service providers, and other stakeholders to enhance the network of support for trafficking victims.
- Training and Education: Provide training and education to law enforcement, community groups, and other stakeholders on identifying and responding to human trafficking.
- Report Writing: Prepare detailed investigative reports, case summaries, and other documentation for use in legal proceedings and organizational records.
- Advocacy: Advocate for policies and practices that support trafficking victims and improve systemic responses to trafficking.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Social Work, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in law enforcement, investigations, or a related field, with specific experience in human trafficking preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong investigative and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis
- Competence in report writing and documentation
- Understanding of trauma-informed and victim-centered approaches
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
- Background check clearance

Working Conditions:
- Environment: Field-based work, with some travel required
- Schedule: May require evenings and weekends depending on case demands
