NKHS is a Designated Agency contracted with the State of Vermont to provide the highest quality of service in the areas of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children and youth with serious emotional disabilities, and adults with mental health and substance use challenges. We serve the populations of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties through a wide variety of targeted programs for individuals of all ages. Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Controller and the Budget and Finance Director to complete monthly financial reporting process to ensure reporting to finance committee, full board, division chiefs, directors and State Partners each month. Including graphs and standard financial reports.
- Support Budget and Finance Director with department budget worksheets, including a detailed staffing list and aa profit and loss statement showing prior year actual, current year actual, projected actual and prior year approved budget.
- Prepare and submit to DMHS the organization’s annual budget
- Supports presentation of budget to organizations board of directors
- Review, prepare and post standard journal and payroll entries to the General Ledger on a monthly basis or as required to ensure accurate General Ledger balances and/or financial reporting.
- Review Agency grant revenue spreadsheet on a monthly basis and prepare revenue recognition entries and prepare reconciliations on a quarterly basis.
- Monthly reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts including the Benefit Liabilities
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- 5 to 10 years of accounting experience highly preferred.

- Competitive Salary $23.25/hr plus, depending upon experience
