The Wellness & Engagement Director has the responsibility to establish the community wellness, engagement, fitness and transportation plan and work with their Engagement Coordinators and Drivers to implement the plan. In addition to the overall wellness program focus, they are responsible for personally leading several life enriching fitness and wellness programs for both independent and assisted living residents on a weekly basis. The Wellness & Engagement Director must set the example in their community by always presenting a cheerful, helpful attitude in his/her work as well as leading a healthy lifestyle for others to follow.

Develop, plan and implement fitness & wellness programs and engagement that enrich whole-person wellness in the following categories: physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and special requests of the residents

Supervise engagement coordinator team as well as drivers for transportation

Instruct physical exercise and brain fitness classes, personal training as well as coordinate contract and other instructors to supplement classes in Independent Living and Resident Care for Parc Communities

Facilitate Continuum of Care Meetings with Resident Care Director, General Manager, Wellness and PT/OT Partners to create wellness plans for those residents in need. Adhere to the wellness plan and notify General Manager of any changes in resident's condition.

Facilitate socialization among residents

Increase Wellness and Engagement participation through personal invitations and reminders for residents

Create customized programming specific to the interests and desires of the residents

Work with Engagement Coordinators on scheduling Fitness and Wellness events in Independent and Resident Care

Greet visitors in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

Chaperone wellness engagement outside the community
-
Coordinate monthly themed wellness seminars and/or screenings
-
Supervise, train, and conduct performance appraisals for employees of the fitness, wellness and transportation aspects of the Wellness Department.

Encourage annual participation in Charity focused engagement.

Promote special events and wellness incentive campaigns and decorate accordingly.

Coordinate preventive maintenance and purchase of any Wellness Center equipment and supplies within the guidelines of the budget

Coordinate food requirements for scheduled engagement with dining associates by using event function sheets

Coordinate and encourage wellness programs that market Parc Communities to prospective residents and the public. Also provide wellness articles for publication when needed

Develop and implement monthly Wellness Spotlight newsletter for residents and family members
-
Communicate with all staff about event function sheets in which they are involved.

Ensure instructor certification maintenance and continuing education requirements are met

Encourage staff involvement with engagement of residents to build team work

Coordinate intergenerational programs that allow Parc residents interaction with different age groups and help create awareness of positive aging in the community

Advise management of any concerns with resident

Assist with the development and monitoring of the Fitness/Wellness/Engagement department budgets

Serves as Manager on Duty on scheduled weekends.
-
Serves “on call” on weekends and after normal working hours.

Coordinate any outside volunteer or student involvement in fitness and wellness program.
-
Coordinate all monthly wellness services, such as Blood pressure checks, podiatry, reflexology, massage therapy, doctor services etc.
-
Continue to develop job related knowledge, skills and abilities by participating in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.

Carry out other duties as assigned by the General Manager

Minimum of 3-5 years leadership experience in the areas of aging fitness, wellness and/or senior engagement programming
-
Degree in Recreational Therapy preferable with certificates required in senior exercise, balance training, brain fitness for seniors and personal training
-
Has 2 years’ experience in a social recreational program with older adults with dementia within the last five years, one of which was full-time in an activity program in a health care or assisted living setting per state guidelines.

Ability to drive 14 passenger bus

Valid state Driver’s License with a clean driving record

Ability to sit and type at a computer terminal for long periods of time utilizing close vision to review reports and documents

Position is a physical training position and requires, strength, flexibility and stamina to conduct and lead a minimum of 3 classes per day at the assigned location- 40% of time

Ability and knowledge to use gym fitness equipment with the physical requirements being met to allow use and continued training as needed- 20% of time

Fitness and balance training require hands-on work with the residents and proper lifting and motion policies must be followed- 20% of time
