We are seeking structural engineers to join our growing team in an exciting and new culture of consulting. Our vision for SSI is to provide professionals a means to be a part of something bigger, grow themselves, and make a positive, tangible impact in our clients' operations. We offer a flexible, remote, work environment, meeting only if / when needed for specific projects.
SSI engineers will work with other team members and clients on large, multidiscipline projects in the bulk material handling world. This is a chance to enter a niche market, learning design skills few in the world have, and to work with experts with decades of experience that are looking to mentor.
Also, you'll have the opportunity to perform inspections at industrial / bulk material handling facilities, as well as design repairs based findings from those inspections. Being part of the group to help a client execute their long term operational goals is satisfying, and we often play a critical role in establishing future maintenance/repair projects.

- Inspectors will be required to perform inspections from personnel lifts or from cable rigging on material storage silos.
- Inspections often include interior confined space entry within a silo to observe structural elements.
- Collaborate with facility personnel to establish inspection objectives and provide guidance to rigging sub-consultants for completion of scheduled tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients while onsite and effectively describe field observations in produced reports.
- Can write a detailed technical report that describes the history of the structure, inspection methods utilized, observations, and conclusions and recommendations for future use. Technical reports will generally agree with SSI standards for deliverables; however the inspector will be responsible for the uniquely descriptive content. Above average technical report writing experience is appreciated.
- Perform analysis, work with designers for development of design level repair drawings for observed deficiencies during inspections.
- Design engineering experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood is applicable.
- Has the ability to work alongside SSI’s design department to successfully direct drawing progress and complete code compliant structural drawings.
- Out-of-state travel to inspection sites can range between 1-2 weeks per month, depending on workload and performance.
