Job Description: Van Driver – Per Diem
*** Need to have either the S, V or A endorsement to drive children.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Van Driver will transport scholars by van on the assigned route as indicated by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be 21 years of age.
· Must have a valid CT driver’s license – in good standing.
· Must have a Class 'V', Class 'S', or Class 'A' endorsement to drive children.
· 3 Years driving experience.
· Able to effectively read and communicate.
· Standard Defensive Driving Course must be taken.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Ability to operate a van safely.
· Extensive knowledge of motor vehicle laws.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Excellent time management skills.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSBILITIES
· Follows a planned route, making scheduled stops to pick up or drop off passengers.
· Communicates with the supervisor during the route to provide any updates and reports on emergencies, traffic patterns, or accidents.
· Assists passengers on and off the van when help is needed.
· Visually inspects the van before beginning the days assigned route.
· Reports any mechanical issues with the van such as brakes, steering, or other issues.
· Prepares an observation report when shift is finished.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO:
Van Driver reports to the Chief Financial Officer or his/her designee.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT
Per Diem – as needed basis
$18.50 per hour
