About Sunrise: Since 2015, Sunrise Homeless Navigation Center is the largest provider of homeless services in Travis County! We offer pathways to housing for people experiencing homelessness through low-barrier access to wraparound services by providing innovative, trauma-informed, and person-centered programming that engages our communities and leads system-wide transformation. Job Title: Director of Operations
Position Status: Full Time
Location: In-Person and Remote
Compensation: $65,000, Unlimited PTO, Health/Retirement Reimbursement up to $1,000 per month
Reports To: Chief Program Officer
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Position Summary: The Director of Operations will be responsible for developing and implementing operational strategies to support Sunrise's mission and growth. This key leadership position plays a critical role in overseeing various aspects of the organization's operations to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services to individuals experiencing homelessness. Successful candidates will have proven experience in leadership roles within nonprofit organizations or social services agencies.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration) preferred
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership abilities
- Knowledge of homeless services, social services, or related fields is highly desirable
- Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to efficiency
- Experience in managing diverse teams and working collaboratively
- Experience in business development preferred
- Experience in budgeting preferred
Position Responsibilities:
- Operations Management
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the following elements of the homeless services operation, ensuring a unified and efficient approach to service delivery
- Procurement, maintenance, and tracking of equipment and supplies necessary for the organization's operations
- Maintenance and safety of facilities, ensuring they provide a secure and welcoming environment for clients
- Technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and IT support, to ensure the smooth functioning of programs and services
- Security measures to safeguard the organization's physical premises, data, and the well-being of clients and staff
- Ensure the organization follows its budgeting guidelines and financial plans
- Work closely with the finance team to manage resources effectively
- Identify potential risks to the organization and implement measures to mitigate them, ensuring the safety of clients and staff
- Program Coordination:
- Coordinate Sunrise PRN Screener and Assessor staff pool.
- Post positions, screen, hire and onboard PRN staff as needed.
- Manage PRN, Staff Holiday, and Staff PTO schedules, timelines, and program coordination to ensure efficient service delivery and resource allocation
- Develop, implement, and evaluate data management practices and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations for all program staff.
- Ensure the organization complies with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Develop, implement, and evaluate quality assurance processes to maintain high data quality standards and ensure contract metric compliance.
- Continuously assess and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Staff and Community Engagement:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate training programs for staff to enhance their skills and ensure they provide trauma-informed, client-centered care
- Develop, implement, and evaluate volunteer programs to support the organization's mission
- Foster positive relationships with partner agencies and community stakeholders
- Plan and execute events, campaigns, and initiatives that support the organization's goals and engage the community
- HR Policy Compliance
- Monitor program managers and staff
- Write up infractions on PMs
- Enforce compliance of consistent write up of staff for tardiness, absenteeism, performance issues, harassment and insubordination.
- Maintain a safe work environment and confidentiality at all times
- Be proactive, creative, and flexible in determining, evaluating, researching, and resolving issues
- Organize and prioritize multiple activities to meet all external and internal deadlines
- Maintain professional demeanor that reflects positively on the agency

Position Considerations:
- The Director of Operations works directly with staff and clients onsite filling in for gaps in staffing to ensure continuity of service when needed
- The Director of Operations will attend staff meetings in person
- The Director of Operations will comply with and develop operations in accordance with Sunrise’s Strategic Plan
- The Director of Operations requires onsite work at multiple locations
