Omya Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to work in Superior, Arizona.
Job Description:
Survey potential plant sites, both within Omya and at customer locations for new facilities as requested, including research into available utilities, required space assessment and constraint evaluation. Support all aspects of the design process for large expansions and green-field projects within Region Americas that are safe and environmentally compliant meeting all local and national standards. Support the design for project site layout, general process arrangement, development of specifications and equipment technical review. Develop Process flow diagrams, P&IDs by using Engineering Base software, and equipment general arrangement drawings as required by utilize AutoCAD 3D. Support the project management team by utilizing Omya project management systems (PMS) to implement capital projects. Assist in startup and commissioning of new process systems as necessary. Participate in project closeout and lessons learned activities for each project. Ensure meeting safety standards that aligns with Omya and MSHA requirements for plant design, operations, maintenance, contractor management and construction practices. Provide engineering services to plant operations team. Contribute technical expertise to resolve process upsets and improve equipment reliability.
Position duties include working with heights, climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending and entry in confined spaces while performing all job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation. Position requires up to 2% on-call duties, during and after business hours, and weekends to support emergency plant situations remotely. Position requires up to 50% domestic and international travel to visit Omya plants which are primarily located in Mexico, U.S., and Canada.
May telecommute within a commuting distance of Omya’s office location in Superior, Arizona, and physically report to Omya’s office location in Superior, Arizona three (3) days a week.
Minimum Requirements:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study. Position requires five (5) years of experience as a Mechanical Designer, Project Engineer or a related occupation in the mining or mineral industries. Position requires full professional proficiency in Spanish. Position requires five (5) years of project and design experience in operations or an engineering field. Position requires two (2) years of experience with the following: using AutoCAD 3D software for equipment general arrangement drawings; conducting site surveys, development of engineering solutions, cost estimation, scheduling, Capital Asset Request (CAR) preparation, and management of projects, design firms and contractors; working closely with local sales and service managers to support customer inquiries or complaints regarding the unloading, transfer, and storage of both wet and dry projects.
