The Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing through completion, assigned projects to ensure the development and production of products meets customer and internal quality deliverables. Coordinate and lead investigations regarding customer complaints. The Quality Engineer maintains our Quality Management Systems (QMS) to the most recent ISO standards and oversees Quality Assurance / Quality Control, including internal auditing and quality improvement activities. The Quality Engineer works within the quality system to ensure the overall quality of all manufactured products and is tasked with creating documentation, devising quality checks, and defining the criteria that the manufactured parts should meet.
Responsibilities
- Promotes quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
- Develops, implements, and maintains a quality plan to maintain compliance with ISO quality system requirements.
- Drive and manage quality system for continuous improvement.
- Sets up and maintains control. manages documented procedures and customer provided drawings and specifications.
- Manages and maintains the company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes, and finished goods.
- Maintain measuring equipment calibration system.
- Identifies relevant quality-related training needs.
- Analyzes performance data and charts against company and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain supplier performance Key Performance Indicators and utilize them to assess quality trends, performance target setting and verify effectiveness of implemented corrective action plans and 8D reports.
- Approval, development, and management of all direct and indirect quality relevant material suppliers, and to ensure the material received from them is conforming.
- Work cross-functionally in support of product development to ensure that that the supply chain is fully qualified before product release.
- Conduct on site supplier QMS and or process audits and drive corrective action plans.
- Excellent decision-making abilities showing awareness of risk and regulatory requirements. Evaluate options and solutions while using good judgment.
- Present a positive and respectful professional image towards customers and co-workers and make decisions based on company policies and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
- 5 or more years of experience.
- Ability to present complex or difficult messages clearly and persuasively.
- Prior mechanical inspection experience in manufacturing, GD&T application.
- Good understanding of quality systems including ISO program management.
- Good verbal and written communication skills as well as detail oriented.
- Ability to discover root causes, lead 8D teams and reporting, implement corrective actions, including the use of statistical analysis techniques (SPC).
- Has a sense of urgency as Quality Assurance is often the final stop for expedited parts.
- Ability to coach and mentor others in QA principles.
- Knowledge in Microsoft office.
- Demonstrate organizational skills.
- Knowledge of effective team-building approaches, and team dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage many tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate ability in analytical thinking.
- Ability to understand and articulate how individual role and responsibilities tie into Quality department function, goals, and objectives.
- Prepare PPAP reports (desired experience).
- Six sigma lean manufacturing, at minimum OpEx Green belt (desired experience).
- Able to understand and give directions to the organization of Industry standards and specifications.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant experience.
