We're hiring a Senior Mortgage Underwriter - DE Certified to join our Mortgage Banking Team.
Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the underwriting of first mortgage loans and home equity loans, as well as supporting Underwriting Management for other duties as assigned. First mortgage products include: Agency (FNMA and FHLMC), Construction to Permanent, Government (FHA,VA, and USDA), Jumbo investor, and Portfolio loans. Underwriting parameters would be those specified by the respective Agency, Investor and/or Univest internal policies.
Responsibilities include:
Underwrite first mortgage and home equity lines/loans to the respective Agency, Investor and Univest internal policies.
Responsible for loan approvals up to lending authority, recommending a lending decision on those loans requiring a higher lending authority.
Working with Processors and Mortgage Loan Originators to evaluate and suggest alternative scenarios for approval, as applicable.
Work closely with the Underwriting Manager to ensure that credit policies and underwriting guidelines are adhered to.
Work closely with the Underwriting Manager to timely communicate to all
Mortgage staff the relevant changes in product/underwriting guidelines.
Responsible for compliance with laws and regulations that apply to the position, including the Univest Code of Conduct.
Individual is an Authorized Employee as defined in Univest’s IVES Policy to review Tax Transcripts.
Required to maintain a satisfactory quality rating based on internal and external Quality Control and Regulatory audits.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years mortgage banking experience, including 3+ years of recent mortgage underwriting experience (conforming and government loans).
FHA DE certified with preference for VA SAR/LAPP certification as well.
Thorough knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA/USDA, industry regulations and mortgage process flow.
Home equity underwriting experience is a plus.
Familiarity with MI underwriting programs and guidelines.
Working knowledge of automated underwriting systems (DU/LPA).
Basic PC skills.
