Must have availability for overnights Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 pm to 6:30 am.
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Resident Assistant monitors the safety and well-being of all Safe Haven residents while they are on site. The Resident Assistant ensures that residents comply with program guidelines, assists residents in their daily living activities and documents all services provided in both hard and soft copy formats. The Resident Assistant is also responsible for responding to and reporting all potential and actual crisis situations to their supervisor and/or appropriate emergency services (i.e., law enforcement, paramedics, fire, etc.).
Positions Requirements
1. Conduct the initial intake utilizing the appropriate documentation and filing systems as directed by the Program Manager.
2. Work as a part of the service team to assist residents in meeting their basic needs including but not limited to personal hygiene, social interaction, laundry, mail, etc.
3. Document resident contacts through electronic files (Clarity) with respect to case plan goals, resident activities/behaviors, and supportive services rendered.
4. Monitor, evaluate, and record resident progress in hard and soft copy formats with respect to case plan goals, activities/behaviors, units of service rendered, stages of
change, and other statistical and narrative information as required.
5. Participate in safety inspections and fire drills, night bed counts, inventory, and other operational tasks as may be assigned by the Program Manager.
6. As a team member, assist in evaluating resident functioning of independent living skills as demonstrated in unit inspections, chore compliance, and identification of
basic needs.
7. In coordination with case management team, refer residents to all applicable resources for achievement of case plan goals. This may include providing directions,
reminding residents of appointments, and helping a resident locate community-based resources.
8. Facilitate communication among residents and between residents and staff, and model respectful communication and team collaboration in all contacts with residents
and co-workers.
9. Participate with other staff as an active team member, attending regular staff meetings to plan and coordinate resident and management objectives.
10. Maintain a confidential environment by ensuring that all written resident information is secure at all times and by refraining from discussing confidential matters either
with or in the presence of other residents and outside entities.
11. Assist and support staff in completing everyday tasks associated with routine program operation, administering rules, and program guidelines in order to support
resident progress toward identified goals.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special / Other :
1. This position requires the ability to be flexible with a twenty-four hour schedule, the majority of the shifts that are needed are second and overnight shifts, including
holidays and weekends.
2. Staff must be comfortable interacting with resistant residents, being in contact with residents who are not in touch with reality, addressing difficult conversations (setting
limits, personal hygiene, etc.).
3. Adherence to all federal, state, local, and agency policies and procedures as it relates to the mission and purpose of the program.
4. This position is located in an environment that provides transitional housing, case management, and supportive services to the chronically homeless mentally ill, who
may or may not have co-occurring issues relevant to domestic violence, substance abuse, a criminal history, and so forth. The noise level of the environment can be
loud and chaotic, and there is no private office. The site has multiple stories which require regular use of stairs.
5. This position requires adherence to a dress code that promotes the safety of the clients and staff as well as promotes the values and ethics of the hiring agency.

7. The position requires the ability to be flexible in working without judgment with individuals in varying stages of recovery and/or relapse.
8. This position is exposed to harsh chemicals found in typical house cleaning products/materials; applicants are advised to free of pre-existing respiratory or allergic
conditions which would be exacerbated through exposure to such products/materials.
9. This job includes close vision and the ability to adjust focus; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and
mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform work on multiple, concurrent tasks and interact with program
management, staff, volunteers, representatives of public agencies and community organizations and others encountered in the course of work.
Fingerprint clearance and criminal check required.
Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance desirable but not required; MUST have access to reliable transportation
Must have CPR certification or be willing to acquire on the job
Must have ability to obtain medical clearance certifying absence of TB and a pre-employment drug screen
