The Town of Wellesley Police Department is currently seeking to fill multiple Traffic Control Officer positions. This position is an annually appointed position. Appointments begin annually on July 1st and end on June 30th. Any appointments made after July 1st, will terminate on June 30th regardless of appointment date. Primary responsibilities of this position include the following: ensuring that uniforms and equipment are in compliance with department standards; directing and expediting the flow of traffic at assigned locations with a focus on accident prevention, protecting pedestrians and ensuring the free flow of traffic; detecting and reporting traffic safety conditions which may endanger or inconvenience the public to the appropriate supervisor; rendering first aid (when qualified) to persons who are ill or injured; and assisting the public with general inquiries about police services and referrals to other agencies if needed. Responding punctually to all assignments is also required. The hourly rate for this position is $40/hr.
Minimum Requirements: Associate’s degree or 60 college course credits, must be at least 20 years of age, have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and must not be a convicted felon. Work hours may be irregular and varying durations depending upon the assignment (nights, holidays, weekends, etc.) The incumbent may be subject to call-ins for emergency situations.
