Building Envelope & Moisture Analysis Inspector

As a Building Envelope Inspector, you will work independently daily. Attention to detail, flexibility, and an ability to follow instructions is the key to success. Inspections require following a set process. You must be willing and able to follow the inspection protocol, follow a written report process, and be open to feedback and direction. You also must have the ability to communicate your findings to others in a clear and concise manner.
This is not an ordinary punch a time clock type of job. There will be times when evening or weekend work is involved. We value work/life balance!
Summary:
The Building Envelope Inspector is responsible for inspecting building envelopes and stucco structures for defects, damage, and compliance with building codes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building envelopes, water intrusion, stucco construction and the ability to identify potential problems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform visual inspections of stucco structures to identify defects, damage, and compliance with building codes.
- Maintain extensive and current knowledge of building codes and practices.
- Use specialized tools and equipment to test the structural integrity of stucco.
- Use specialized tool to detect the presence of moisture or water intrusion into the building envelope.
- Use thermal imaging cameras to assess location and extent of water intrusion.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports that document findings and recommendations.
- Interact with property owners, contractors, and other stakeholders to communicate inspection findings.
- Stay up to date on the latest trends and developments in stucco construction.
Qualifications:
- Degree in construction science, architecture, structural engineering or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in building envelope inspection.
- Building code certification (this is a preferred requirement and must be obtained within 12 months of hire date).
- Licensed Real Estate Inspector (this is a mandatory requirement and must be obtained within 12 months of hire date).
- Licensed Architect or Engineer (preferred but not required).
- Strong understanding of construction principles and practices.
- Ability to use specialized tools and equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Demands:
- The ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- The ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- The ability to work in various weather conditions.
Work Environment:
- The work environment is typically outdoors.
- The work environment may be noisy and dusty.
