Mental Health Clinician
JOB TITLE: Mental Health Clinician
DEPARTMENT: Behavioral Health
REPONSIBLE TO: Chief of Behavioral Health
LICENSURE: LCPC, LGPC, LCSW-C
EXPERIENCE: This individual must have at least two (2) years of providing mental health services to a diverse population.
SALARY: $60,000-65,000

General Summary of Responsibilities:
The Mental Health Clinician provides counseling/therapy services for pediatrics, adults, and geriatric populations in an outpatient setting with a medical home model. The Mental Health Clinician performs client and/or community focused resource coordination activities to ensure clients and/or community members receive comprehensive care. The Mental Health Clinician must also have background and knowledge of trauma and the effect it has on development. The Mental Health Clinician must possess training and group facilitation skills, knowledge of related community resources, and the ability to collaborate with other community organizations and agencies.
NATURE OF WORK:
- Provide therapy, psychotherapy and/or counseling to an entire population
- Conduct intakes, psychosocial assessments and other risk assessments in accordance with program standards
- Develop counseling interventions in coordination with the client and/or their family
- Provide individual, family and group counseling
- Complete comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and other documentation in a timely manner
- Complete written documentation to program standards
- Meet billing requirements as set by the agency
- Participate in weekly individual supervision as required
DUTIES:
- Provide trauma-based therapy as required/necessary
- Assess clients’ needs and level of functioning including but not limited to administering a bio psychosocial assessment, Columbia suicide assessment, and PhQ-9 to all clients referred to the case load
- Provide crisis counseling to client/families as necessary
- Write safety, behavioral, and treatment plans
- Schedule and coordinate therapy sessions
- Provide clinical interventions for teachers, parents, and other caregivers to generalize skills in other environments
- Provide collateral parties with information to best meet the client’s needs as lawful and necessary
- Assess, determine and make a referral when special services or care are needed (i.e. medication evaluation, psychiatric hospitalization, case management, in-home services or psychological testing, etc.)
Paperwork and Documentation:
- Write daily/weekly progress notes for each therapy session and mental health service within 48 hours of the service
- Complete appropriate mental health documentation, including but not limited to, client plans performance outcomes, progress reports, health questionnaires, and discharge reports as required
- Continuously review charts for new and/or relevant information concerning clients
- Prepare and maintain charts in accordance with audit requirements
- Perform Utilization Reviews as assigned
Training and Consultation
- Attend and participate in all required meetings, consultations and trainings
- Attend external training/conferences to meet CEU requirements and keep up to date with current information and developments
- Present information gathered at conferences at clinical meetings and staff in-services/training as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The licensed Clinician must possess a Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work or other graduate program in Psychology or Counseling.
