The City of Oxnard's Cultural and Community Services Department is seeking a Library Page with strong technical and customer service skills to be part of the Library team. This individual must be comfortable assisting the public courteously and tactfully. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication techniques with staff and patrons. We are looking to fill shifts in afternoon (1-5pm) at least 1 day a week, but morning, evening, and Saturday shifts may also be available.

DEFINITION:
Under close supervision, the Library Page performs a variety of routine tasks to support maintaining the library's collections and public areas, and provides general information and assistance to library patrons.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Library Page is the entry level of the non-professional Library classifications that provides routine patron assistance duties such as answering basic questions, shelving and retrieving materials, assisting in the computer lab/microfilm/microfiche area and performing general clerical duties. The Library Page differs from the higher level Library Aide in that the Library Aide is responsible for the more technical library duties such as circulation, automation, acquisitions, cataloging and processing of materials.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:
General supervision is provided by a higher level library staff member.
WORK SCHEDULE:
These positions work various schedules and at various locations throughout the City of Oxnard. These positions may be required to be available to work additional hours as needed to respond to workload needs. These positions are not governed by the overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and are eligible for overtime pay.
PLEASE NOTE:
Extra-Help positions are NOT expected to last more than 960 hours per fiscal year. Under the terms of the City's benefits plan and policies, this position is NOT eligible for benefits due to the short duration of employment. In this position, employment with the City of Oxnard is at will and those selected for temporary placement retain the option, as does the City of Oxnard, to end employment at any time, with or without notice and with or without cause.

Employees are required to participate in the City’s direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
City staff may be required to play an active role in the event of an emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours.
