Position requires hands on, delivery of patient centered therapy and care under the supervision of the attending physician with possibility of expanded community outreach through functioning as an athletic trainer in schools and sports events. (The majority of time will be spent in our office/clinic environment.) Educate patients concerning injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance improvement.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide physical evaluation and patient assessment.
Perform patient care including passive and active modalities with a focus of soft tissue treatment including massage, manual therapy, stretching, electronic muscle stimulation, ultrasound, and therapeutic taping.
Exercise program development including isometric, isotonic, plyometric, open and closed chain exercises.
Educate patients on importance of home mechanical therapy compliance.
Instruct and document patient education relating to appropriate use of equipment and devices.
Provide sports team advice. Work with athletes and coaches. Communicate with parents/guardians.
Assist in expediting patient flow.
Screen patients for appropriate clinical information and document appropriately.
Prepare equipment, vitals, educational materials, etc. during treatment and examination of patients.
Accompany clinician into patient exam areas for purpose of transcribing the history and physical exam. Accurately document clinician’s encounter with the patient.
List all diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and recommendations as mentioned by the clinician.
Transcribe orders, including diagnostic testing.
Document all procedures performed by the clinician and performed one on one.
Develop athletic injury protection programs as appropriate to patient population.
Coordinate patient care with essential support services such as rehabilitation, radiology, etc.
Perform other duties as required.
Ideal Candidates:
Qualifications include a Bachelor Degree in Athletic Training or experience in a related field.
Knowledge of basic rehabilitation principles.
Willing to learn and passion to serve.
Patient-centered, goal oriented and results driven attitude.
Able to multi-task.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Understanding of orthopedic/neurological terminology and conditions is preferred but not required.
Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record details.
Organizational skills with focus on tracking and improving patient flow.
Knowledge of musculoskeletal system and related conditions.
Ability to work in a team environment with a variety of health care professionals and promote a positive work environment.
Able to use tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good oral and written communication skills.
