Job Responsibilities and Requirements
The Director of Compliance is responsible for the management of the Compliance Department, which performs product development activities.
Compliance Administration:

Responsible for the drafting, filing, and obtaining approval of all policy forms

Responsible for ensuring all existing products are in compliance with current legislative changes and making changes as necessary

Responsible for ensuring new products are designed in compliance with the legislative requirements and are filed and approved
-
Responsible for reviewing all advertising, highlight sheets, and other documentation to ensure it meets all compliance requirements

Consults with business partners to provide policy interpretation, assess risk, and make recommendations on critical business decisions.

Partners with insurance departments, ACLI and LICONY members, and personnel from other insurance companies when necessary.

Subject Matter Expert to internal departments on compliance-related matters
Information Systems Support:

Responsible for providing the parameters for programming the policy issue system to ensure it meets all compliance requirements and testing the output.

Partners with Information Systems on system change requests and tests changes from end to end in the administrative systems.
Leadership:

Accountable for the performance of the team; engages team members in development opportunities and builds a positive and respectful work environment.

Makes personnel decisions on hiring, firing, discipline, transfer, advancement, and promotion in accordance with Company policies and procedures

Oversees the implementation and measurement of “best practices” to enhance the team's efficiency and effectiveness continually

Models and drives company values in the departments
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. Insurance designation (CLU, FLMI, etc.) preferred; additional insurance coursework required. Graduate level courses a plus.

Licensed attorney; preferred.

Ten years of compliance experience with a life and health insurance company, which includes drafting entire insurance products and filing/approval of such products on a nationwide basis, is required. At least three years of such experience should include group and blanket insurance filings.

At least three years of prior compliance management experience is required.

Must have an excellent knowledge of group, , blanket insurance theory, practices, policies, forms, and procedures.

Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

The ability to negotiate is essential, and exercise good judgment is critical.

Ability to interpret state and federal legislation and apply it to RSL’s products required.

Must be able to interact with individuals at all levels throughout the organization.

Must be able to assist in a timely manner.
Ability to Travel: Up to 10%
Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
