The Blue Heron is seeking a Chef to lead their busy delicatessen.
We are looking for someone energetic, organized, & able to lead a crew for success.
Great communication skills with customers, managers, & team members is a must as well as being able to keep a positive attitude in busy or stressful times & keeping your crew motivated & on task.
This position requires reliability, schedule flexibility & great time management. An ideal candidate would be available to work Tuesday through Saturday.
As our chef you would be responsible for making fresh soups & salads daily using our tried and true recipes as well as bringing in some new and exciting recipes. We are looking for homestyle cooking that is delicious, flavorful & has a comfort type feeling. This job also requires being able to come up with a weekly set of daily specials as well as a once a month First Friday event meal.
Knowledge of inventory on all things deli related as well as knowing what to order from our food service companies & placing orders while maintaining quality & quantity control is a big part of this positions responsibility.
Financial knowledge for properly costing menu items, specials, catering & events is a must.
Daily this position is responsible for making sure things are properly dated & stored, work spaces are clean & organized such as stock rooms, the freezer, cold storage, & the sandwich makeline.
Responsibilities/Skills
- Responsible for ensuring safe, quality, and timely preparation of deli food.
- Checks meals prior to service for quantity, quality, and appearance.
- Serves customers providing a high quality, efficient, friendly and customer focused service always.
- Ensures all food and non-food items required in deli and potential catering events are ordered and maintained in line with service needs and budgetary requirements.
- Supervision of all inventories to ensure receiving, unloading, storage and rotation successful keeps inventory at highest quality.
- Complies with all State & local hygiene, health and safety policies and procedures.
- Always ensures safe working practice and supports the implementation of best practices policies.
- Performs other professional duties as may be assigned within his/her scope and ability.
