JOB SUMMARY:
The RN/LPN Pre-Op/Post Operative is responsible for nursing care and service in Pre-Operative and Post-Operative, evaluating, integrating and making nursing judgments pertaining to the patient’s condition on a routine and emergency basis. Assist with surgical procedures and circulating duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Admits patients to pre-operative area and review history and physical.
· Admits patients to post-operative area and receive/review post-operative report.
· Set-ups, operates and/or monitors the use of various systems, equipment and instrumentation required for the care of patients.
· Assists in the transportation, positioning and pre-operative preparation of patients.
· Reviews and initiates physician orders administering medications, parenteral fluids.
· Monitors and assesses patient condition throughout pre-operative and post-operative period and report any unusual symptoms, occurrences, or discrepancies to supervisor, anesthesia and physician.
· Maintains accurate control of supplies and medication including appropriate records and documentation.
· Maintains nurse’s notes on the patient record.
· Provides instruction, information and counseling to patients and their families as needed.
· Maintains pre-operating and post-operating room and equipment in an aseptic and functional manner.
· Must comply with all HIPAA and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN desirable. BLS/ACLS certified.
2. RN/LPN Licensed by the State of South Carolina
3. At least 3 years of nursing practice – preferably in a pre-operative setting, or in an operating room.

3. Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
4. Proficient in reporting software

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
· Full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm.
· Position operates in a surgical environment requiring moderate physical activity.
· Physically capable of positioning patients, transporting patients by cart or wheelchair, and lifting moving or transporting supplies, instruments, and equipment within reasonable weight limits.

· Physical demands include but are not limited to:
o The ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.

o The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Must be able to utilize office equipment such as desktop/laptop computers, copiers, printers, scanners, telephones, and calculators.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
