SUMMARY
Identify, monitor, and document quality trends. Address quality deficiencies by collaborating with operations and manufacturing engineers using root cause analysis. Collect and report Quality data to Operations. Develop and maintain QA testing standards for continuous improvement. Coordinate with vendors on Quality issues. Design and implement systems and processes to meet or exceed KPIs. Address safety, material, and design failures during new product design and for existing products. Maintain QA equipment and procure new equipment as needed. Develop new testing techniques and standards for product and production improvement. Lead the department team to meet or exceed goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product for both new and existing products.
· Formulates and maintains quality objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
· Ensures that technical manuals and policy and procedure manuals for the Quality Department are maintained.
· Develops, maintains and supplies quality charts for evaluation and controls.
· Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
· Interfaces with Purchasing Department in determining quality of vendor-supplied parts. Develops quality standards with new vendors and provides vendor with samples. Maintains communication with vendors and conducts vendor audits as necessary. Schedules vendors visits as necessary to ensure quality of parts and partnering with vendors.
· Coordinates and leads internal auditorsto perform Product, Process and CATRA audits
· Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability.
· Investigates complaints regarding quality and interfaces with other departments as necessary to correct the problem. Communicates with Customers as needed regarding issues
· Ensures that accurate calibration records of all tools, gages and inspection equipment are maintained. Interfaces with Engineering Department in developing and purchasing tools, gages and equipment to increase productivity and quality.
· Maintains awareness of all company policies and procedures and enforces them as necessary. Ensures appropriate training and development of subordinates within area of responsibility.
· Assists Fabrication Department in developing first article inspection guidelines on critical operations for early detection and correction of discrepancies. Assists Assembly Department in developing guidelines on all semi-finished and finished articles for early detection and correction of any discrepancies. Generates defect and scrap reports as necessary.
· Ensures timely and accurate inspection of all company products and parts, both manufactured and purchased.
· Interfaces with applicable departments in developing standards for new products and in correcting standards for regular existing line.
· Leads Material Review Board. Determines what materials are to be reviewed by MRB.
· Develops and monitors department budget.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises employees in the Quality. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A.A. or A.S. degree or equivalent, and three to five years of increasing responsibility in the Quality area of the company. Thorough knowledge of Buck products, excellent judgement, strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
A.S.Q.C. Quality Manager Certificate preferred.
