SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Medical Director is responsible for planning, administering, and directing operations of the medical clinic. Provide professional patient care as a Licensed Physician to individuals from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Must be compassionate, sensitive, understanding, and support the Center’s Ministry to provide quality healthcare to those in need. Must have the ability to supervise others and work effectively as a team with other physicians, staff, and volunteers.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Medical providers, Nurse Manager, & Mid-level providers
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to CEO.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Can fulfill the clinic’s mission to spread the love of Christ through quality healthcare to those in need while providing appropriate physical, emotional, and spiritual care for the whole person.
- Responsible for the operations of the Medical Department in order to assure quality patient care along with oversight of the quality assurance program.
- Maintain and review of professional performance of all providers who interact with the department and report regularly to Board of Directors. This includes monitoring volunteer’s labs and radiology reports as well as the supervision of midlevel providers per the state’s requirements.
- Responsible for implementation within the department of policies and procedures enacted by the CEO, as well as aiding in the development of those policies and procedures.
- Transmit to the CEO Department recommendations concerning the staff classification, reappointment and the delineation of clinical privileges for all providers and staff within the department.
- Prepare regular reports for the board, such as budgetary planning, and attend meetings as required.
- Obtain an adequate medical history on each patient and deliver an appropriate plan that addresses quality healthcare in a way that the patient can understand and implement.
- Meets all HIPPA guidelines and regulations treating patient’s information with privacy and respect, and meets all guidelines for continuing medical education and current licensure.
- Leads devotions with other employees on a rotating basis.
- Others duties as assigned by the CEO.

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited medical program. Current licensure to practice Medicine in the State of Georgia.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years of professional physician experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of professional medical theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of managing personnel in a compassionate yet effective and efficient way.
- Experience in dealing with patients of ethnically diverse backgrounds.
ABILITIES:

- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
