The OR Registered Nurse manages all the necessary care inside the surgery room, assisting the team in maintaining and creating a comfortable, safe environment for the patient and observing the team from a wide perspective. This Circulating RN must ensure that the surgical team members perform in a unified effort, directing care and activities with the team for the patient’s best interest.
Functions:

Plans patient care and ensures patient information such as allergies and other health issues are documented.

Perform CLIA waived testing.

Observes, checks and monitors all equipment used during surgery to confirm they are running smoothly; handles patient documentation.

Hooks up any necessary suction and cauterization equipment and assist the anesthetist with intubation.

Provides surgical team with sterile fluids sterile fluids and medications as needed.

Provides for accurate care and handling of specimens.

Observes and enforces strict standards of a sepsis.

Checks and evaluate the patient’s needs to ensure positive outcome.

Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors.

Promotes/supports growth of others through mentoring when appropriate.

Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.

Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.

Upholds HIPAA regulations.

Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.

Any additional duties assigned by management.

Travels to facilities on a need be basis.
Position Requirements:

Current nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing board

Minimum of two years OR experience
-
Cognitive skills as related to the position
-
Valid Transportation

Valid CA Class C Driver License
-
Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification
