Job Summary: As the Director of Nursing, you will lead the Nursing Department, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Your role includes staff scheduling, budget management, and supervisory responsibilities. You will drive excellence in resident care, develop nursing objectives, standards, and policies, and ensure the highest standards of nursing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily nursing operations to ensure efficient resident care.
- Develop and maintain nursing service objectives, standards of practice, policy manuals, and job descriptions.
- Collaborate with the MDS to maintain comprehensive care plans with other disciplines.
- Perform administrative duties, including medical forms, charts, and reviews.
- Determine staffing requirements and forecast resident needs for optimal staffing.
- Delegate and follow up on responsibilities to nursing staff.
- Ensure daily adherence to resident care policies.
- Provide recommendations for Nursing department improvements.
- Conduct rounds to ensure high-quality resident care.
- Assess new resident medical needs and document recommendations.
- Maintain a clean and safe Nursing department environment.
- Inspect nursing equipment and supplies for operability.
- Coordinate nursing activities with other resident care services.
- Interview and approve nursing management applicants.
- Recommend and coordinate staff training based on evaluations.
- Review and update Health Center policies as needed.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement meetings.
- Develop and implement resident care policies with the Medical Director.
- Ensure staff completion of assigned in-services and annual education.
- Complete incident reports for local, state, and federal agencies.
- Investigate resident incidents and ensure thorough documentation.
Resident Relations:
- Build and network with resident organizations and groups to promote community services and care levels.
Job Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with 7-10 years of long-term care nursing experience
- MSN preferred
- Strong leadership, verbal, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of nursing principles and state/federal health regulations
- Proficient in computer applications
- Maintain Infection Preventionist Certification
