Mission:
The Assistant Program Director is California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approved and must be knowledgeable and current regarding the program and the policies and procedures by which it is administered, and delegated the authority to perform the director's duties in the director's absence. This position works cooperatively with the Program Director and assists the Director in supervising faculty and staff and supporting students in all nursing program areas. The Assistant Program Director receives a minimum of 40% for Full-Time and 20% for Part-Time release time for the program's administration, including clinical coordination and oversight. The Assistant Program Director has delegated the authority to perform the director’s duties in the director’s absence.
Qualifications and Skills:
The Assistant Director of Nursing must be a registered nurse who is knowledgeable and current regarding the program and the policies by which it is administered. This person must qualify for authorization by state agencies to ensure that all programs are properly supervised in compliance with the requirements of Title XVI of the State Education Code and other state regulations.
- A Master's Degree or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes coursework in nursing, education, or administration
- One (1) years’ experience as an administrator with validated performance of administrative responsibilities
- A minimum of (2) years’ experience teaching in pre- or post-licensure registered nursing programs
- One (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience in direct patient care as a registered nurse
- Equivalent experience and/or education as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
- Current license as a registered professional nurse in good standing
- Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of program students, faculty and staff.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office, Internet, and course management software.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designated by the Director and possessing the authority to assist in the administration of the program and perform the functions of the Director when needed
- Meet regularly with the Director to ensure program compliance with regulatory agencies' and accreditation bodies' requirements and standards.
- Administrative time of 40% for Full-Time and 20% for Part-Time
- Assist with student problem resolution, implementing policies and procedures, and student orientation and advising.
- Document all private, school-related discussions with students using incident reports, progress reports, and/or Student Advisement Forms appropriately.
- Complete a weekly report.
- Promote a culture of professional nursing that embraces compassion and ethic-based practice.
- Collaborate with Director, and Policy and Procedure Committee (Campus Director, Student Services) in interpreting program policies and determining the need for new departmental policies.
- Chair the Curriculum Committee and prepare report for monthly full faculty meeting.
- Participate in faculty orientation and development, i.e. mentoring.
- Provide student counseling and advisement to ensure student success and achievement of program goals (e.g. identify available community services and resources to resolve person issues affecting student satisfactory academic progress.
- Complete professional development activities to maintain expertise in accordance with college and BRN standards and identified needs.
- Assists with student problem resolution, implementing policies and procedures, and student orientation and advising.
- Completes professional development activities to maintain expertise in accordance with CCI standards and identified needs
- Cooperates with the Program Director, Campus Director and other CCI staff including the student services, career services, and financial aid departments.
- Clocks-in and –out accordingly.
- Attends all staff meetings.
- Reports any major problems to the Program Director or Campus Director
- Uphold and enforce school policies.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and demeanor at all times with students and with CCI staff.
- Maintain appropriate confidentially with staff and student issues and discussions.
- Familiarize yourself thoroughly with school policy via the CCI catalog/handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
