Executive Communications Senior Specialist: VBA ABD
Position Description:
The Executive Communications Senior Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the communication strategies for the Office of Automated Benefits Delivery, Strategic Communications and Change Management team. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced communications professional who can develop compelling narratives, manage complex communication projects, and ensure consistency and clarity in all executive communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, draft, edit, and proofread a variety of speeches, talking points, press statements, web content, news releases, and other communication materials for executives.
- Translates the ideas, objectives, position, and management philosophy into messaging that relates to the topic, speaker, and intended audience.
- Ensures consistent messaging strategy and brand identity are included in every piece.
- Provides subject matter expertise in delivering presentations and speeches.
- Prepare executives for media interviews, including creating briefing materials and providing media training.
- Coordinate and manage executive participation in key industry events, conferences, and public engagements.
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of executive communication strategies and initiatives.
- Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership to inform and improve communication efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a role focused on executive communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with media, industry influencers, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience in crisis communication and media relations.
- High level of discretion and professionalism, with the ability to handle sensitive information.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective communication plans.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior executives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with communication tools and platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to measure and report on communication effectiveness.
