Job Summary:
Suntec’s Carpenters build forms and decks to effectively pour concrete on commercial construction sites. Suntec’s construction projects include high-rises, parking garages, stadiums, tilt-up warehouses, etc…
All field and project site positions are considered safety-sensitive positions.
“Safety-sensitive” positions includes tasks or duties that the employer reasonably believes could cause an impairment or decrease job performance, and where the employee has the responsibility for his or her own safety and the safety of people around them.
Job Description:
- Layout, prepare, erect, and assemble forms for pouring concrete.
- Set, brace, and align forms in place with lumber, timbers, turnbuckles, clamps, wall ties, coil rods, etc. for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
- Signal operators of construction equipment (such as cranes, rigging hardware, diggers, etc.) to facilitate movement and adjustment of machinery/equipment and install building framework where needed.
- Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, plumb bobs, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars, electric and pneumatic tools.
- Measure, cut, and/or shape boards, timbers, plywood, plastic, and other materials.
- Install barricades as appropriate to eliminate workplace hazards.
- Work efficiently, productively, and safely to meet productions goals set by Suntec leadership.
- Dismantle, stack and sort concrete formwork.
- Examine blueprints, sketches, building plans to ensure quality work.
- Perform routine inspections of tool/equipment to ensure safety and quality.
- Provide direction to laborers and other construction helpers
Essential Job Functions/Abilities:
- Must be able to adhere to all safety requirements
- Must be able to work safety in all surroundings, and with team members.
- Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
- Must be able to show up on time for Safety Pre-Task Planning.
- Perform labor under various weather climates.
- Ascend/Descend ladders, scaffolding, or high structures.
- Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work safely and successfully as a team.
- Ability to understand and follow directions with moderate supervision.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
