Description
The IT Operations Technical Lead is responsible for overseeing IT infrastructure and operations, ensuring the delivery of first-class support to the organization, and ensure the availability, stability, performance, and scalability of USG IT infrastructure supporting critical business applications. This role involves strategic planning, project management, vendor and contract management, technical leadership of Linux, Windows, and Storage professionals, and maintaining the security and integrity of IT infrastructure and business applications. The IT Operations Technical Lead effectively collaborates with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain solutions to meet USG business requirements.
Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of Linux, Windows, and Storage platforms to ensure availability and reliability.

Manage IT infrastructure and operations projects to ensure they meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget.

Lead a team of Linux, Windows, and Storage IT professionals providing guidance on projects and technical skill development.

Assist in the development and implementation of IT policy and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.

Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual efforts for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.

Lead security and compliance initiatives on Linux, Windows, and storage platforms.

Lead Linux, Windows, and storage professionals through the architectural design and implementation for Disaster Recovery preparedness, documentation, and testing.

Manage Backup and Recovery infrastructure, schedules, and processes.
- Collaborate on roadmap for continuous improvement with respect to Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity.

Conduct post-incident root cause analysis and lessons learned.

Stay abreast of current and emerging IT trends to drive innovation and develop technology roadmaps.

Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert on Linux, Windows, and Storage platforms to business stakeholders.

Assist with budget and expenses for Linux, Windows, and Storage platforms.

Collaborate on vendor relations associated with Linux, Windows, and Storage platforms including the procurement of hardware, software, and professional services and management of contract renewals.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and written, to IT Leadership and Business Stakeholder when system or application issues occur.

Collaborate across Operations and Development teams to manage datacenter operations, including vendor management, day-to-day operations, and the development and execution of data center best practices.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring high performing IT Infrastructure and Operations teams with specific responsibilities for Linux, Windows, and Storage platforms.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills. Highly skilled in project management of cross-platform solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Linux, Windows, enterprise SAN storage, and backup appliance experience.
- Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management preferred.
- Solid understanding of network and security principles and best practices.
- Work effectively with minimal supervision, relying on experience and good judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and work in a hybrid work environment (Onsite in Chicago HQ 2 days/week).

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
