Ferry Farm Baptist Preschool is seeking enthusiastic, fun-loving teachers for our preschool classrooms for the 2024-25 school year. Applicants should have experience working with young children either in a school, church, or volunteer setting.
This position is within a church setting and is regulated as a religious exempt facility. Licensing is not mandatory.
Our school year runs from August - May. The hours are 8:45 am - 12:45pm, with the
occasional need to add hours throughout the year for special events and
training.
A Virginia State background check and FBI fingerprint check will be performed for any potential new hire. Other background checks through Ferry Farm Baptist Church may be required.
Job Description
We are looking for qualified teachers to fill positions in our 2-year-old, 3-year-old, and 4-year-old classrooms. Teaching hours are Monday - Friday from 8:45am - 12:45pm and pay is $15/hr. Staff members receive free preschool/kindergarten tuition for their dependent child(ren). We are also looking for qualified substitute teachers to fill positions on an as needed basis.
Job Responsibilities
Principal Function: To assist the director in the ongoing activities of the program and serve as a staff member in keeping with the policies established by the Ferry Farm Baptist Preschool Committee. Also meeting regulations set forth by Virginia Department of Education and Social Services, Virginia Department of Health, and The Stafford County Fire Marshal and Sheriff’s Office.
Duties:
· To maintain a Christian environment and provide activities which will promote children’s physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual growth.
· To work according to the schedule outlined by the director and maintain prompt hours.
· To plan, supervise, and implement a daily teaching program in accordance with the policies of the program.
· To give each child the attention needed to assure his/her best welfare. This includes needs for learning, eating, toileting, sleeping, playing, working, health care, and safety.
· To comply with state and federal guidelines regarding classroom student/staff ratios and requirements.
· To maintain progress records of each child’s growth and development.
· To attend classes, workshops, and other opportunities for personal and professional growth.
· To attend staff meetings and training.
· To work with the director and cleaning personnel to ensure a clean and orderly preschool.
· To inform the director of needed supplies, repairs, and materials as far in advance as possible.
· To enrich daily programs in a variety of ways, using the best methods of teaching and help provide for the learning experience.
· To establish and maintain communications with the parents regarding the child’s welfare.
· To keep a vigilant watch over any student utilized area to ensure the safety of all students and staff is met. Notifying the preschool director immediately with any safety concerns.
· To represent Ferry Farm Baptist Preschool and Ferry Farm Baptist Church in a positive way, including on site, during staff events, and on social media.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
