Youngblood Automation is looking for an energetic, motivated and technically inclined Project Engineer to join our team in Grand Rapids.

As a Project Engineer, you will work with end users, engineering firms, contractors, as well as the company’s own inside customer service team, outside sales representatives, engineering and manufacturing teams. The Project Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, concepting/designing, estimating, quoting and coordinating projects. Applicants must have the mechanical understanding to envision and design, understand and adhere to engineered specifications, select solutions and accessories, price the systems, and prepare professional proposals.
Responsibilities
- Receive, respond and coordinate new and existing to project and product inquiries.
- Work closely with internal teams to gather the customers’ scope of work and other relevant information needed to quote projects.
- Design layouts, and prepare assembly models, approval prints, detailed drawings, and schematics.
- Utilize knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to design equipment and system layouts using 3D design software (SolidWorks 3D CAD).
- Track and coordinates the life cycle of projects from RFQ, Quote, Approvals, Production and Quality Review.
- Determine feasibility of designing new projects or modifying existing projects considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning, fabrication methods, and other technical and economic factors.
- Evaluate performance & design of equipment and conformity to applicable codes, regulations, and safety standards as required for the application.
Background & Experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent work Experience.
- Experience designing automation machinery preferred.
- Strong Communication and Presentation Skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, Excel in particular.
- Proficient in SolidWorks and 3D design.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Customer driven with a positive, professional, customer first attitude.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Aptitude to learn about technical products and provide technical support to customers.
- Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
