Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Charge Perioperative RN to join our team. The ideal candidate will display exceptional leadership, management, and communication skills, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and supporting our dedicated nursing staff. The Charge RN will be responsible for overseeing perioperative services, managing patient flow, and providing both clinical and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and manage the perioperative nursing team, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of clinical care.
- Supervise and assist nursing staff in the operating room, providing guidance on patient care and operating room protocols.
- Conduct one-to-one supervision sessions and appraisals for staff nurses, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
2. Patient Care:
- Direct and coordinate the admission, discharge, and general flow of patients into the operating room.
- Provide hands-on patient care, including circulating in the surgical room, ensuring each patient receives individualized and compassionate care.
- Develop and implement care plans that address the unique needs of each patient, maintaining accurate and thorough patient records.
3. Administrative Duties:
- Create and manage nursing staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts and special procedures.
- Maintain inventory levels, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available and properly stocked.
- Inform staff of any changes to protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in budget planning for the perioperative department, optimizing resource allocation for maximum efficiency and patient care quality.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
- Foster strong working relationships with physicians, staff, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations and the highest level of patient care.
- Communicate all requests and changes in practice to relevant personnel, ensuring seamless implementation of new procedures and protocols.
- Act as a liaison between the nursing team and other departments, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
5. Training and Development:
- Develop and implement training programs to educate and train new nurses and staff, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for success.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify areas for improvement and provide targeted training and support.
6. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including health and safety, infection control, and fire regulations.
- Report any injuries, diseases, or dangerous practices to the appropriate personnel, taking proactive steps to address and resolve issues.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement, challenging poor practice and providing guidance for improvement.
Requirements:
- Current RN license in the state of Colorado.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of perioperative nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, including Da Vinci robotic surgery, general surgery, ENT, plastic surgery, and pediatrics.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
