POSITION TITLE: IT Specialist
REPORTS TO: IT Lead Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs duties to ensure the proper implementation and operation of the school district’s hardware and software. Maintains and repairs technological equipment (e.g. Chromebooks, Desktops, Laptops, Thin clients) or peripheral devices.
Essential Functions
- Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software-related issues in assigned schools
- Setup, diagnose, and repair Chromebooks, Laptops, desktops, and thin clients in assigned schools
- Maintain all computer labs in assigned schools
- Provides problem-determination assistance to students and staff involved in computer usage.
- Keeps abreast of up-and-coming technology as they relate to the district.

- Maintains surplus inventory listing
Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
- Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, grasping, talking, hearing.
- Normal attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, the ability to adjust the eye to bring objects into sharp focus, and the ability to ID and distinguish colors, are all required.
- Light physical demand with the regular lifting of very light to light (1 to 25 lbs.) items and rare lifting of average items (25 to 60 lbs.) by hand.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Education: Thorough knowledge of a specialized or technical field such as computer technology and its applications, involving a thorough skills knowledge plus the application of basic theory. Equivalent to high school plus additional broad specialized training equal to two years of college.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one year up to and including three years of experience in computer technology and various automated systems.

- Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Perform the operations with common and decimal fractions. Compute ratio, rate, and percent.
- Perform reading, writing, and speaking at an intermediate level.
- Must possess positive, effective “people skills”.
