About New Mexico Military Institute:NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets numbering up to 1000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum on the high school level and a transfer junior college, operating within a conductive military environment.
Position Under general supervision, the Mechanic and Equipment Repair Technician operates and maintains, services, and repairs all related grounds maintenance equipment, including heavy-duty commercial/professional grade specialized lawn care equipment; maintains, services, and repairs tractors, utility vehicles, chain saws, weed eaters, pumps, sprayers, compressors, sweepers, etc.; operates, maintains and repairs snow removal equipment; assists other departments on campus as needed. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time position. The salary range is $40,163.00 ($19.31 per hour). The job description is available upon request.
Tasks:
· Perform maintenance and repairs on small engines and drive trains, including engine overhauls, engine failure diagnoses, ignition system diagnoses, and engine fault code diagnoses.
· Diagnose, maintain, and repair brake systems on relevant mechanical rolling equipment, including complete brake system diagnoses and overhauls.
· Diagnose and repair all aspects of equipment transmission mechanical and electronic control systems, including failure diagnoses on automatic transmissions and complete overhauls of both standard and automatic transmissions.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
· Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain and various types of vehicles and equipment, along with associated sub-systems.
· Ability to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain a variety of small engines and specialized mechanical and/or electrical powered equipment.
· Ability to repair and overhaul brake systems.
· Ability to lead and train staff.
· Ability to diagnose, maintain, and perform basic repairs to automatic and standard transmissions.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Must be a High school graduate or equivalent in education and/or experience.
· Five years’ experience in equipment maintenance, small engine repair, automotive repair, or related fields.
· Must be able to work outside in various forms of weather.
Preferred:
· Bilingual.
