Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Site Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the child care center, including full compliance with and knowledge of Title 22, Title 5, and the Child Care Food Program. The Site Supervisor manages the center staff, ensures a safe and healthy environment, oversees the implementation of the Creative Curriculum, and maintains a strong collaborative relationship with families and community partners.
Responsibilities:
Management
- Ensure compliance with all regulator requirements and standards under Title 22, Title 5, and the Child Care Food Program.
- Maintain procedures to ensure the health and safety of all staff, children and families.
- Ensure compliance with agency-wide Emergency Preparedness Plan.
- Ensure all areas of the facility are clean, organized and attractive at all times. Ensure the center, furniture, and equipment are in good working condition.
- Monitor the center budget and equipment inventory, making purchases when necessary.
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with families and community members.
- Address family and staff concerns in a timely manner.
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate meetings, trainings and special events.
- Assist with the recruitment and enrollment of eligible families.
- Represent Child Lane at community outreach events and meetings.
Program Implementation
- Oversee the provision of high quality programming in accordance with industry best practices.
- Implement goals and objectives to assess and improve program quality.
- Review and approve child assessments and classroom observations based on set guidelines and timelines.
- Review and approve classroom curriculum plans following the principles of the Creative Curriculum and thorough understanding of individual children and group needs.
Supervision
- Provide direct supervision to the center staff.
- Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service by direct reports.
- Determine on-going training needs and develop and implement plans to increase knowledge and efficiency.
- Ensure that staff understand and effectively communicate standards of the program.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations in collaboration with the Program Director.
- Ensure compliance with program philosophy and agency-wide policies and procedures.
- Ensure a respectful and cohesive working environment for all members of the staff.
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Site Supervisor Permit.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
- 3 Units in Infant/Toddler care.
- 4 years paid work experience in an ECE environment, 1 year in a supervisorial position.
- Extensive knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practice, Creative Curriculum, Desired Results Developmental Profile, Learning Genie, and Environment Rating Scales.
- Knowledge of and experience with the Anti-Bias Curriculum.
- Knowledge of and experience with R.I.E.
- Pediatric CPR/First Aid Training Certificate (8 hours).
- Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training.
- Health Clearance; including TB screen and required vaccinations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher)
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, adapt, and be flexible.
- Ability to communicate in English (Bi-lingual Spanish preferred).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- High degree of professionalism and accountability.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Valid California Driver’s License and transportation.
Physical Requirements:
Must possess mobility to work in a classroom and play yard settings and to use standard office equipment including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry children weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
Travel Requirements:
Minimal travel required.
