POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities.
Skills and Abilities to:
● Perform all skills outlined within the most current RBT Task List under the supervision requirements set forth by the BACB.
● Receive and implement feedback from Clinical Supervisors to enhance own professional development.
● Assess situations and make proper judgements.
● Understand behavioral situation and react accordingly in an ethical manner.
● Objectively analyze crisis situations
● Respond quickly to emergency situations.
● Communicate effectively and make recommendations to various agency staff.
● Communicate effectively in both oral and written form with a diverse group of clients, parents/ caregivers, school personnel, and other agency staff.
● Perform general clerical duties including maintaining accurate client records and preparing clear and concise reports.
● Use a computer and behavioral software to prepare documents and maintain client records.
● Work independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelines.
● Work with a diverse team of professionals in a respectful and collaborative manner.
● Supervise clients during treatment sessions.
● Utilize time management skills and organizational skills
● Communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Physical Demands: The physical demands and characteristics of the work environment described here are representative of those that will be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
● Employee must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently.
● Required to perform activities that entail, but not limited to: playing with children, running, kneeling, sitting on floor, and standing.
● Physically willing and able to comply with job duties while responding to challenging behaviors. This may include, but is not limited to: physical aggression (biting, pinching, hitting, kicking, etc.), property destruction, inappropriate language, etc.
● Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.
TRAINING PROVIDED BY PRISM: Behavior Technicians are professionals who have or will complete a minimum of a 40 hour intensive theory training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), have successfully passed a competency assessment administered by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), and received a passing score on the Registered Behavior Technician exam through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) in order to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
The Behavior Technician is not responsible for designing interventions, conducting in-depth assessments, or developing skill acquisition or behavior reduction plans. It is the responsibility of the designated BCBA or BCaBA, Clinical Supervisor, to determine which tasks a Behavior Technician may perform as a function of his or her training, experience, and competence.'
