JOB SUMMARY:
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will work alongside the Children’s Ministry Director, in preparing and working on all Children’s Ministry program and events (birth – 6th grade) including Sunday mornings and help facilitate effective communications to volunteers and parents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the vision, strategy, and development for all Children’s Ministries (birth-5th grade).
- Help coordinate necessary preparations for Children’s Ministries volunteer trainings and meetings.
- Recruit, train, and shepherds Children’s Ministry volunteers.
- Participate and help coordinate all Children’s Ministries programs and events which include, but not limited to, Weekend Services, Wednesday nights, VBS, all church special events/programs, and children’s summer and winter camp.
- Assist in coordinating volunteers for nursery/preschool worship care and childcare during agreed upon church-wide events.
- Collaborate in and make recommendations of the curriculum used for all classes events, and programs. Curriculum should be age appropriate and communicate in a manner that Bible learning is fun and exciting.
- Supporting volunteers to help maintain safe and clean, aesthetic childhood learning environments and equipment.
- Help maintain, plan, and prepare supplies for volunteer teams and programs, purchasing supplies when needed.
- Help manage budget tracking, such as receipts, check requests, etc.
- Coordinate and schedule Children’s Ministry administrative volunteers.
- Help coordinating and managing check in, forms, reports, and communication through Shelby Next.
- Use effective modes of communication including emails, social media, handouts, mailings, etc. designed to keep families engaged and informed of current programs, projects, and opportunities.
- Help manage Children’s Ministry social media and YouTube channel.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Weekend church attendance.
- Attendance at staff/leadership meetings if schedule allows.
- Active or will become active member of Olive Branch Community Church within first 90 day.
- Regular 1:1 meeting with Children’s Ministry Director.
- Regular meetings with mentor/coach.
- Stay current with Children’s Ministries practices by, reading, attending Children’s Ministry conferences as requested by supervisor.
- Perform and/or oversee other church events as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum of 1 year of Children’s Ministry experience.
- Required to complete First Aid/CPR training.
- Competency with basic computer software and the capacity to learn new software.
- Proficient in Microsoft including, outlook, word, excel, teams, etc.

- Some written and oral communication skills with preparing and teaching Biblical messages.
- Able to collaborate to build creative programing related to children’s programs and special events.
- Some experience (volunteer and/or staff) in connecting with children for outreach and discipleship.
- Thrives under work environment with goals, accountability, and collaboration.
- Use appropriate judgement in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Signed Olive Branch Statement of Faith.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports to Children’s Ministry Director.
- Helps supervise and lead Children’s Ministry Volunteers.
- Supports and partners with other ministries within Olive Branch.
