Endoscopy and GI Technicians prepare the procedure rooms to work alongside the physicians during procedures. Additionally, techs clean and sterilize all equipment after the procedure. They may also help care for the patient, be responsible for collecting patient biopsies and specimens, and assist in maintaining a sterile field.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain inventories of endoscopic equipment and supplies. Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning. Prepare suites or rooms according to endoscopic procedure requirements. Clean, disinfect, or calibrate scopes and other endoscopic instruments according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards. Position or transport patients in accordance with instructions from medical personnel. Collect specimens from patients using standard medical procedures.
