JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Remote Forensic Mechanical Engineer
Location: Cincinnati, OH (Remote with Central US travel required for project sites)
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will involve various responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
Conducting thorough examinations of potential mechanical system failures
Gathering and analyzing data at loss sites
Consulting relevant codes, standards, and regulations
Documenting evidence and investigation findings
Capturing photographs of damage and evidence related to fire, explosions, or other losses
Performing appropriate tests and data acquisition in the field and laboratory settings
Conducting examinations in laboratory environments
Providing analyses on system failures
Preparing research-based expert reports
Interviewing witnesses, property owners, and building occupants during investigations
Providing testimony in court cases involving investigated losses
Traveling as required
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in applying the scientific method to loss investigations
Up-to-date knowledge in accordance with NFPA 1033 regarding fire investigations
Physical ability to navigate fire and explosion scenes, crawl, climb, and use ladders
Obtaining and maintaining relevant PPE certifications
Analytical skills to assess loss sites and identify potential failures
Strong understanding of mechanical systems
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory. Professional Engineering Registration is also required. Ideally, candidates should possess 4-6 years of relevant investigative experience.
