Cruz Management Company Inc is seeking a Senior Property Accountant, Senior Property Accountant will be reporting to the Controller. This position is an integral part of a collaborative team and works closely with the Controller, other Property Accountants, Accounts Payable, and Property Managers.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close reporting, including reconciling assets, liability, revenue, and expense accounts.
- Preparation of timely and accurate month-end general journal entries, reconciliation of the general ledger accounts.
- Maintain depository account records for multiple properties including the monthly reconciliation of these accounts.
- Perform analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts and aid in the review and research of accounting activity for the period.
- Preparation and review of financial statements for accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all relevant information.
- Responsible for accounts payable, including vendor communication, data entry and oversight of staff, as assigned.
• •Preparation of monthly balance sheet, income statement and budget vs actual analyses for management reporting, on a monthly, quarterly, year-end basis.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the preparation of audit schedules for the year-end and quarterly reviews.
- Assist with federal, state, and local tax schedules and filings.
- Preparation and review payroll of accounting records and related accruals supporting the financial statement closing process.
- Respond to inquiries from the Controller, Director, and other managers regarding financial results, or special reporting requests.
- Communicate with external auditors, third party and governmental agencies, both verbally and in writing and prepare financial compliance reports, as assigned.
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with other projects and initiatives, as assigned.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.

5+ years of accounting/finance experience.

Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP)

Advanced knowledge of affordable housing programs and regulations and related impacts to accounting ledgers preferred but not required.

Experience with intermediate/advanced Excel is required. Experience with Yardi, highly preferred.

Demonstrable leadership to accounting and property management departments.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects.

Organizational and strong Time-Management skills with the ability to regularly shift priorities when working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Experience analyzing reports, ledgers and processes and recommending corrective actions.

Ability to work in an environment with a diverse group of people.
