JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transportation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing a variety of equipment in transportation infrastructure. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation network, and the successful candidate will have a background in fiber splicing, electrical systems, and telecommunications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
A traffic signal or intelligent transportation system (ITS) technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and/or repair of ITS and traffic signal systems including:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on wireless systems, electronic equipment and communication devices.
- Splicing and installing low voltage systems, fiber optic cables and electrical systems.
- Conduct field service calls to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with transportation equipment and infrastructure.
- Install communications systems, routers, and other network equipment.
- Collaborate with the data center team to ensure seamless communication and data transmission between the data center and transportation infrastructure.
- Repair and replace broken or damaged equipment, including electrical components, fiber optic cables, and other materials to include:
- o Traffic signal cabinets,
- o Loop detection systems,
- o Traffic signal electronics,
- o CCTV systems (Bosch),
- o Dynamic message signs (Ledstar and Daktronics),
- o Travel time readers,
- o Vehicle detection systems,
- o Weather sensors (Vaisala),
- Document all maintenance and repair activities in a clear and concise manner.
- Participate in continuous learning and training to stay up
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required by the Position
- Proven experience in the field of transportation technology, with a focus on fiber splicing, electrical systems, and telecommunications.
- Field service experience is highly desirable, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional courtesy.
- Knowledge of Clavis, LLC procedures.
- Working knowledge of MS Windows and PR system for submissions
- Working knowledge in MS Office;
- Must be able to select, apply, adapt, and modify procedures to meet daily situations.
- Must use good judgment in accomplishing assignments, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and complying with guidelines of the established work schedule and lunch break.
- Must be physically fit and able to lift, bend, and work in a variety of environments, including outdoor and confined spaces and be able to lift and carry items up to 55 pounds.
- Must be comfortable safely climbing ladder or working in a bucket truck.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
