Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will oversee the activity of the quality assurance department and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization’s products and/or developing processes to meet customer expectations. They need to be analytical and creative, coming up with new ways to satisfy needs and encourage workers. They help design and enforce quality controls to maintain company standards. They also help communicate expectations to employees and provide coaching and corrective action when needed. Quality assurance managers must be excellent communicators with a strong desire to help others.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Understands customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control
2. Ensures that products adhere to quality standards
3. Devise and review specifications for products and processes
4. Sets requirements for raw materials from suppliers and monitors their compliance.
5. Communicates with suppliers to determine a solution when a supplier product defect is identified. Tracks and monitors supplier issues and concerns.
6. Supervise inspectors and other staff and provide guidance and feedback
7. Trains and manages production staff in production practices and quality assessment of product
8. Ensures processes and procedures are being followed by all.
9. Empowers the broader TACK team in the use and understanding of quality tools and systems.
10. Leads Quality Assurance team and departmental meetings.
11. Communicates procedures and work practices, such as inspections, final inspection, corrective or preventative action, forms, supplier issues, etc. throughout the company
12. Performs detailed and recorded inspections of final products so the products are up to industry, company, and applicable standards
13. Assists and leads continuous improvement efforts.
14. Conducts internal and external containment activity and communicates corrective actions to the Account Manager or customer to ensure customer satisfaction.
15. Generates corrective and preventive action plans as required and chairs corrective action meetings to help discuss various ways of correcting an issue when a customer complaint comes in.
16. Generates accuracy of Process Flow, Control Plan, Part Submission Warrant (PSW), First Part Inspection Reports (FAIR), and Parts Products Approval Process (PPAP) submissions per customer requirements.
17. Coordinates the processing of customer RMA’s.
18. Generates Failure Analysis Reports if quality concerns are present.
19. Collects, analyzes, and charts internal process results, rejects data, customer PPM data, and other key indicators.
20. Recommends changes and improvements to internal documents, work instructions and checklist.
21. Performs quality review of Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) prior to production.
22. Monitors calibrations log. Coordinates with internal staff to ensure calibrations are performed on machinery and tools according to schedule.
23. Ensures that the organization is conforming to IPC, UL, ISO, and ITAR standards and has the organization audit-ready for each of these areas.
24. Lead and direct Root Cause and Corrective action activities, including the use of quality tools such as 5-Why and Fishbone diagrams.
Non-Essential Responsibilities:
1. Visits customer and supplier facilities periodically for quality review.
2. Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
Limited Direction: Works from overall policies, goals, and budgetary limits. Virtually self-supervising with direct accountability for final results.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct leadership: Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for team members. Responsible for assigning, scheduling, and ensuring the quality and quantity of work. Approves time off and schedule adjustments. Provides training and coaching.
Education & Experience:
1. Associates or Bachelor degree in Engineering, Statistics, Business Science, Quality Assurance, or equivalent experience.
2. Five (5) or more years of experience in Quality Assurance at a minimum.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of IPC 620 for wire harness assembly, ISO 9001 and AS9100.
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Ability to pay close attention to detail.
4. Ability to drive corrective action process.
5. Strong ability to prioritize tasks.
6. Ability to identify when immediate action is needed and make well-informed decisions to carry out action.
7. Ability to modify own behavior and work activities in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.
8. Works collaboratively with both production and office team members to acquire information, respond to requests, and develop solutions to problems.
9. Demonstrates time management skills.
10. Responds to chaos and maintains calm demeanor when faced with multiple requests at one time. Can address problems without interrupting workflow at TACK.
11. Knowledge of the product to perform accurate quality control
12. Analysis, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to review systems, find flaws and pose solutions to those flaws
13. Proficiency working in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and ERP Databases.
14. Knowledge of 5S model.
