Controller Job Description
SUMMARY The Controller oversees financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Responsibilities include managing accounting processes, payroll, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, implementing internal controls, and collaborating with executives to drive strategic financial decisions. The Controller plays a crucial role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting organizational growth.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
· Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for transitioning accounting functions/operations from outsourced third party to the company accounting department
· Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
· Creates financial reports at company and branch levels; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
· Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
· Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
· Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
· Works with external auditors and provides needed information for audit.
· Files quarterly and annual reports with the National Mortgage Licensing System.
· Provides quarterly and annual reports to investors, warehouse lenders and broker/dealers.
· Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
· Responsible for some accounts payable and receivables.
· Responsible for Loan Level accounting.
· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

· Some knowledge with hedge accounting.
· Microsoft Business Dynamics 365 Accounting Software – Loan Vision
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
· 3-5 years or more of related experience required.
· Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
· 2+ years of Mortgage Accounting experience preferred
