Position Summary:
The forklift operator will work in a warehouse or dockyard, where products or equipment are stored on pallets. The environments are fast moving, industrial spaces. Candidates will work full-time shift work at a variety of start times. The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform fill orders and check the accuracy of other orders. As well, operators will be responsible to ensure the working order of their forklifts prior to use.
Essential Functions/Job Requirements:
- Identify and report faulty equipment, damages, and safety concerns to Supervisor immediately.
- Load and unload products from trailers using forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.Adjusts equipment during operation to improve operation.
- Store the products in proper places in warehouse.
- Deliver products to various production areas in safely and timely manner.
- Sort, pack, wrap, tie and label products as per company procedures.
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory.
- Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood and plastic.
- Follow company standards and legal regulations to ensure safe and positive work atmosphere.
- Maintain forklift equipment by troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, recommending repairs and performing routine pre and post inspections.
- Maintain material handling equipment by recharging, cleaning, oiling, refueling and other necessary actions,
- Study production schedule to determine material requirements, movements and deliveries.
- Record information regarding movements of supplies, materials and finished products.
- Basic ability to stick & Mig weld
Qualifications:
- Ability to pass all OSHA required testing.
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
- Ability to be flexible enough to be able to operate the controls and turn around in your seat when reversing.
- Must be detail oriented and have a strong desire to learn.
- Ability to handle physical requirements, including but not limited to, kneeling, repeated bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting of up to 80 lbs
- Able to complete forms and work-order paperwork to document work performed.
- Minimum 4-years experience with forklifts is required
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Skilled in troubleshooting and problem solving
- Organized with strong time management skills
- Good communicators, able to work through problems with other team members.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
