Position Summary
Equipment Support Technician II is responsible for the distribution, cleaning, preparing, and managing all durable medical equipment issued to patients in the medical center. The incumbent is responsible for the retrieval, decontaminating, cleaning, inspection, assembly, storage, and distribution of all reusable and single use devices used during medical treatment and diagnosis during the patients stay. Incumbent will be responsible for adherence to standards and regulations enforced by Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), and governmental agencies. Incumbent will also teach and mentor ESS Tech I technicians and will assist department ESS coordinator as required. Incumbent shall be required to perform all department operations described above in the absence of the CES supervisor and coordinator and may be required to perform these duties on second or third shifts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
- Maintains a clean work area along with cleaning and disinfecting all the equipment. Must have knowledge of all cleaning agents and the Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Maintains sterile processing techniques and follow all the safety guidelines with the use of care, storage, and the operation of durable medical equipment.
- Ability to perform testing on all equipment to ensure performance and equipment distribution control.
- Organizes the assembly of multiple item packs and trays along with packaging and storage of all equipment.
- Assist with staff education and qualify assurance. Along with technician training and validation of skills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
