The Role
Veeya is looking for a Field Technician III with experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing fiber optic cable. The ideal candidate will function as the Subject Matter Expert within the Field Services and Technical teams ensuring fiber work is done to the Veeya safety and quality standards. The Field Tech III must have or gain proficiency in multiple types of installations, including: new builds, retros, and data centers. The ideal candidate is prompt, reliable, has superior support skills, and excellent communication. He/she will have a proven track record of client satisfaction and is motivated to provide superior service. Travel throughout the Greater Phoenix area is required. This position is a temp-to-hire position.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Copper and fiber optic cable installation including overhead cable supports (j-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, etc.). Installation of sleeves and firestop as required.
- Routing and bundling (dressing) cables through modular furniture, cable trays, ladder rack, etc. Dropping or “fishing” walls with box eliminators. Surface mount raceway installation.
- Work area outlet installation including wall plates, modular furniture, floor boxes, etc. Organize cables, determine/install service loop and cable labeling.
- Buildout IT closets including mounting backboards, ladder rack, equipment racks/cabinets, patch panels, fiber optic enclosures, etc. Install proper grounding for equipment/ladder racks and patch panels as required.
- Install low-voltage devices such as wireless AP’s, speakers, display mounting brackets, etc.
- Install rack mounted devices such as switches, routers/firewalls, monitoring devices, servers, UPSs, etc.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Have in depth working knowledge with copper and fiber optic testers (power meter and OTDR).
- Must be able to read, interrupt and follow blueprints.
- Collaborate the Field Supervisor & Field Leads with specialized expertise to assist in project timelines.
- Proficiently completes job-related documentation accurately and on time such as material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, quality assurance and others as required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Fiber Optic Theory: Understanding the fundamentals of fiber optic technology, including light propagation, different fiber optic cable types (single-mode, multi-mode), and signal attenuation.
- Fiber Optic Cabling: Knowledge of proper cabling techniques for installing fiber optic cables in various environments (conduit, aerial, underground).
- Knowledge of Burial Cabling: Understanding the location and proper handling procedures for existing underground conduit & conditions to avoid accidental damage.
- Direct Burial Fiber Optic Cables: Understanding the location and proper handling procedures for existing underground conduit & conditions to avoid accidental damage.
- Construction Blueprints: Possess a thorough understanding of drafting conventions and be able to visualize three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings. Experience with commercial industry and knowledge of relevant building codes/electrical codes (depending on the role) is a plus.

- Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Comfortable with heights, on ladders, wearing PPE.
- (Preferred) Work in hazardous environments such as construction sites, and attics.
- (Preferred) Experience with power tools.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of Customer Service experience
- (Preferred) 1+ years of experience in technical support or a related field.
- (Preferred) CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, M365
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, can explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Flexibility to work at assigned customer sites within the Phoenix Metro area (day shift with a rotating evening and weekend assignment)
- Must pass a background check and DPS Fingerprint Clearance.
- Must have a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
