Job Overview:
We are a boat repair shop and are in search of a fiberglass technician with some experience in fiberglass repairs. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fiberglass technician to join our team. As a Fiberglass Technician, you will be responsible for working on a variety of projects from fiberglass repair, detailing, to full boat paint jobs. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Duties:
- Prepare fiberglass by cleaning, grinding, glassing sanding, and filling holes or cracks
- Mix paint or gel coat and other materials to achieve the desired color and consistency
- Apply paint or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape to protect surrounding areas
- Ensure proper ventilation during painting process
- Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment
- Follow safety guidelines and wear protective gear as required.
-Select fiberglass mats, cloth, materials as required for repair of vessel.
-Mix catalysts into resins, and saturate cloth and mats with mixtures, using brushes and air rollers.'
Qualifications:
-Experience in fiberglass/body repair as this will most of your job duties. Willing to train the right person with fiberglass experience.
-Previous experience as a Painter or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of different types of paints, finishes, and application techniques
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments for accurate paint mixing
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and long periods of standing
