**Job Summary:**
Join our team at Crooked Run Fermentation as a Brewer in our production and packaging department. Crooked Run has been in operation for 11 years and produces some of the best beer in the DMV area. This is an opportunity to learn a variety of production techniques and gain knowledge of a plethora of beer styles, from traditional lagers to explosive IPAs to coolship sours.

**Duties:**
- The complete brewing process to include milling, wort production, fermentation and filtration.
- Conduct thorough cleaning of all brewery equipment and areas, including CIP processes.
- Ensure the brewhouse, production lines, and packaging areas are kept clean and organized.
- Follow all safety procedures
- Complete tasks in accordance with company standard operating procedures and guidelines
- Work closely with other team members to achieve desired quality and production targets
- Assisting other team members as needed
- Participate in all aspects of the production of beer (ordering and receiving raw materials, brewing, dry hopping/ adding fruit, transferring, cellaring, filtering, cleaning, packaging; cans & bottles, quality control and assurance, plant operations)
- Keep accurate daily production and activity records in brew logs
- Brew, cellar, and package beer according to the brew schedule and per the Head Brewer
- General cellar operations. Monitor fermentation, quality, temperature, pressure, gravities, dissolved oxygen, and carbonation of beers in tanks, in package, on a daily basis
- Coordinate with Head brewer and evaluate beer quality before packaging into kegs and cans.
- Packaging of draft, bottled, and canned product
- CIP & Cleaning, sanitation and maintenance of brewhouse equipment and cellar tanks and equipment, using tools and equipment to validate cleaning (i.e., ATP meter)
- Keep accurate inventory and quality management of raw materials and chemicals. Communicate inventory on a weekly basis with Head Brewer
- Assist with inventory counts of finished beer, grain, hops, and other materials as assigned
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, keeping facility clean and functional at all times
- Continually maintain all brewhouse areas, including equipment (mill room, brewhouse, cellar, spent grain area, bulk grain storage area, walk-in cooler, etc.
**Skills:**
- Self motivated, accountable and able to manage time effectively
- Capacity to facilitate problem solving activities. Troubleshooting equipment problems within the brewhouse
- Previous experience in a brewery production environment, minimum 2 years
- Computer skills to keep detailed logs, project/order/track raw ingredients and packaging materials
- Keen attention to detail with a strong focus on quality control and independent working capability.
- Knowledge of CIP and sanitation procedures, as well as experience with fermentation, canning and kegging.
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly and to stand, walk, and work in various physical positions and environments.
