JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician is a key member of the Maintenance team and responsible for supporting an effective manufacturing facility and equipment maintenance systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supports the management of activities, tools, equipment, shop, spare parts inventory and resources related to the maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Comply with and contribute to the required Scheduled Maintenance systems, with transparency to key team members and decision makers.
- Serve as backup point-of-contact for suppliers.
- Participate in building professional relationships, networks and resources to achieve optimum maintenance and production goals.
- Comply with operation standards for chemical use, storage and applications.
- Comply with safety program in alignment with established needs, OSHA regulations and related documentation.
- Identify and communicate with Maintenance Manager regarding ideas that support business needs and goals.
- Strive for continuous improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Continuously requires vision and hearing, reading and speaking. Requires walking, standing, sitting, twisting, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, gripping, balancing, bending, crouching and climbing. Moving within and around manufacturing facilities, logistical operation areas, warehouses, storage areas, usually occupied by people while machinery is in operation, and under USDA observation. Frequent use of mechanical and/or technological tools/equipment, manuals/instructional documents, and use of telephone, calculator, printer/copier, audio/video equipment and technologies, computer and software programs. This is not an exhaustive list
Frequent and sustained exposure to slippery surfaces, cold or hot environments; some areas in facility are at a temperature as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Frequent and sustained exposure to chemicals, hazards, food substances, meat products, equipment operations, noise and adverse temperatures. Occasional business travel, meetings and industry events attendance required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
- Proficient level of knowledge, understanding, familiarity, abilities applicable to the repair and maintenance of machines, mechanics, technological and manufacturing equipment, facilities and systems.
- Able to acquire, comprehend, analyze and utilize schematics and data.
- Able to work on pneumatic, electrical, plumbing hydraulic, refrigeration and manufacturing facility systems.
- Excellent time management skills, follow-through, balancing multiple projects, sense of urgency, and task prioritization.
SKILLS
- Self-directing, well-organized, works with little or no supervision.
- Willing and able to learn and master additional skills, knowledge and systems as needed.
- Take directions and looks for areas of improvements on tasks that are assigned.
