POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Custodial Coordinator performs responsible Coordinator work involving the assignments and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, classrooms, fitness centers, furnishings and equipment as well as building entrances and exterior walkways. The Custodial Coordinator is also responsible for training new employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically-powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent
One or more year’s relevant experience
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to continuously stand/walk/bend/reach/stoop/kneel/crouch/lift, and transport heavy items up to 50 pounds, and properly operate tools/equipment necessary to perform required repairs.
Possess good habits, character and attendance records.
Be neat in appearance and personal hygiene
Be able to speak, read and write at a level of proficiency that permits satisfactory job performance.
Possess a willingness to learn new job skills.
BACKGROUND: Criminal background check and drug screen required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Coordinates the activities of Custodians and temporary employee workers directly by using both verbal and written instructions in compliance with the guidelines provided by the immediate manager and using independent judgment in instances not covered by the guidelines.
Ensure that custodial services meet the needs of the department, schools, and established custodial guidelines by scheduled and unscheduled absences, changing priorities, and special custodial projects. Ensure that the quality of custodial services meets established guidelines by inspecting the work of custodial personnel and directing corrective measures to be taken when necessary to meet those guidelines. Develops an effective team of custodial personnel by instructing all employee in the proper methods and use of materials and equipment for safe and efficient work performance, evaluating individual performances to meet established standards, providing require performance evaluations on custodial personnel and making recommendation regarding the retention of new employees. Ensure that custodial personnel have the equipment and supplies necessary to perform custodial services by issuing supplies as needed, completing request form(s) for replacement items, and storing the supplies and equipment in a secure storage facility. Performs daily custodial duties as needed in support of the departmental mission. Provides continuity of custodial services under emergency conditions or unique circumstances by performing custodial duties directly related to the emergency conditions or as the situation dictates.
Contributes to the overall success of the assigned department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned. Assist in training for in-house custodial staff
Use District School FMX software system for input of Maintenance request forms as needed along with input of high school custodial supplies and chemicals. Must be available for overtime and weekend hours when needed.

PHYSICAL: Primary functions are required sufficient physical ability and mobility to perform moderately strenuous manual labor; to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized hand and power tools and equipment; operate assigned equipment; to stand and walk for extended periods of time; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
