Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Accounting Department for a multi-branch distribution environment and maintaining systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. Successful candidates will have previous experience working in the manufacturing and or distribution environment, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and have strong analytical skills. The position is located at our corporate office in La Palma, CA, and reports to the CFO. We operate in a business casual environment, offering competitive compensation packages and benefits. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing daily direction and assistance to the AP team within the accounting department.
- Work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional departments including Sales, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Operations.
- Proactively evaluate and analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and responsibilities to estimate future revenues and expenses and provide suitable data points.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial controls and guidelines.
- Maintain and reconcile assigned accounts, potentially including prepaid and other assets as well as accruals and other liabilities.
- Responsible for gathering information necessary for the monthly accounting close, reconciling balance accounts payable and accounts receivable monthly, and preparing post journal entries.
- Process daily cycle counts and inventory adjustments.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and process ACH payments.
- Assist in the preparation activities of Monthly & Quarterly Sales Tax Returns.
- Reconciles sub-ledgers to general ledger account balances.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Three years of relevant GL accounting experience
- Ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficient with ERP systems and accounting software (Epicor, Solar, Eclipse a plus).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with advanced spreadsheet proficiency; Pivot Tables & VLOOKUP.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Experience in the Manufacturing/ Distribution industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
- Advanced and/or specialty degrees/certifications are a plus
- Minimum 5+ years’ accounting experience required
- Prior ERP system experience, preferred
- Prior management experience, a plus
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Able to pass background and drug screening
- Authorized to work in the US (E-Verify Employer)
