General Summary
The Chicago High School for the Arts develops the next generation of artistically gifted, diverse scholar artists through intensive pre-professional training in the arts, combined with a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum. The school approaches the development of students through a whole-student approach and through a continuous learning environment for all staff to continuously develop their understanding of our scholar-artists. Position Summary:
The ideal teacher candidate will have the passion and skills to create a learning environment that will offer a rigorous college preparatory education that challenges students to achieve at high levels. Teachers at ChiArts will be required to differentiate instruction; design lesson and unit plans that properly assess student achievement; and use data to inform instruction.
Responsibilities:
A teacher's primary professional responsibility is classroom instruction of ChiArts' students. Classroom and professional
duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Embrace and promote the ChiArts vision, mission, educational approach, goals, and core values

Implement trauma-informed, restorative justice, and anti-racist practices

Prepare and implement lessons that encourage and foster proficient oral and written expression, critical thinking, applications, and ethics

Create structured lessons that prepare students for success in both ChiArts' curriculum and standardized tests

Collaborate with the staff to develop "best practices" tailored to the unique philosophy and instructional approach geared toward the needs of the ChiArts' student population.

Design, administer, and track a variety of student assessment tools

Integrate technology into assessments as well as classroom activity

Employ outstanding classroom management skills and implement the school code of conduct

Submit unit plans using the backward-by-design format

Seek and participate in continuing professional development
